Utilization of Research
When researchers at Aalborg University or researchers together with industry make an invention they are obliged to report it to the Patent and Contract Office of the University. The University in collaboration with industry will then lead the invention through a process which can include novelty examination, proof-of-concept, patent protection and commercialization activities all depending on whether the university wants to keep the rights of the invention or not.
Besides Aalborg University continuously has a mass of patents within health related areas which can be of interest to the industry and the University is always open to discuss cooperation possibilities based on these patents. In 2005 by example Aalborg University granted GE Healthcare a license to use the AALQTEC method on the software platform which is used to analyze EKG-measurement from heart patients and from people who are participating in testing new drugs.
Examples of companies in North Denmark which are spin-offs from the research environment at Aalborg University within health science and technology are:
- Neurodan A/S
- Judex A/S
- Hugin A/S
- GMC ApS
- Nemomed A/S
- Mermaid Care A/S
- TKS A/S
