A particularly outstanding effort to increase the interaction between industry and academia is rewarded with a medal from Danmarks Naturvidenskabelige Akademi (DNA). A silver medal demonstrates that Associate Professor Samuel Schmidt, Medical Informatics Group, Department of Health Science and Technology, is this year's recipient of the prize. Samuel Schmidt receives the award for his remarkable and inspiring research within analysis of algorithms for diagnosing arteriosclerosis. In collaboration with Acarix, a spinoff company from Coloplast and Aalborg University, Samuel Schmidt has matured these analysis algorithms so that they form the basis for a product sold on the European market today.
