In Vitro Electrophysiology Laboratory

The lab is designated to accommodate experiments on isolated cells and isolated organs. Thus, Room 1.126 (Fig. 1) is equipped with facilities for patch-clamping studies and action potential/force recordings from isolated cells and small-size tissue samplings (e.g. rat or rabbit papillary muscles). Experiments on larger size organs are in progress or can be carried on in Room 1.116, where facilities to perform multiple recordings from e.g. the isolated pig median nerve (Fig. 2), or from rat/guinea-pig isolated hearts exist or will exist in the near future. Other setups using equipment and devices existing in the lab can be designed.
