Terminology and models in clinical information systems
A core challenge in medical informatics is that heterogeneity of existing systems and lack of standardisation make information exchange difficult. Systems might work satisfactory in local context, but looking at the health IT-infrastructure as a whole is a complex task. Handling this complexity is the focus of our research objectives:
- Information use in multiple contexts i.e. clinical documentation, quality assessment and billing
- Comprehensive and realistic standards and architectures to ensure interoperability
- Information management using state-of-the-art clinical terminology
Our aim is to develop, compare and evaluate theories and models with significance to international research in health informatics and national e-health strategies.
