Welcome to the Department of Health Science and Technology

 

"Today, Department of Health Science and Technology constitutes Denmark’s largest, integrated health technology research and teaching environment."

The vision of Department of Health Science and Technology, HST, is to improve health throughout society by development of new devices, methods and therapies, and by prevention of illness. Specifically, the North Denmark Region is a field of interest, the aim being to reduce the shortage of doctors and collaborate with industry.

Publications

Approx. 12,000 publications have been published during the existence of the department's research area at Aalborg University, from 1978 until now. A list of these are found in the research database of AAU called VBN.

History of the Department of Health Science and Technology

Annelise Rosenfalck1978

The first professorship of biomedical engineering was established at Aalborg University, Department of Electronic Systems, and occupied by
Annelise
Rosenfalck.
 

1986

Department of Medical Informatics and Image Analysis, MIBA, was established as a unit of Department of Electronic Systems.
Name in Danish: Afdeling for Medicinsk Informatik og Billedanalyse, MIBA.

2002

Department of Health Science and Technology, HST, was established as a superior department of Aalborg University.
Name in Danish: Institut for Sundhedsteknologi.

2006

The Danish name of Department of Health Science and Technology was changed to:
Institut for Sundhedsvidenskab og Teknologi.

2011

The Danish name of Department of Health Science and Technology was changed to:
Institut for Medicin og Sundhedsteknologi.

2020

The department now has 20 professors.
