This is the thirtieth annual international Ph.D. course on the translational neurobiology of the pain system. The purpose of the course is to introduce different aspects of the neurobiology of the pain system and to initiate new co-operation in interdisciplinary pain research. A key challenge in the pain field is to detect the pain type and involved mechanisms. This year, the course will focus on translational aspects of different mechanisms in nociceptive, neuropathic, and nociplastic pain. In particular, novel biomarkers will be discussed (e.g., neurophysiological, psychophysical, or biomedical) as well as the requirements for suitable biomarkers. The lectures will be given by staff from the Center for Neuroplasticity and Pain (CNAP, Aalborg University), and by invited international key scientists within the area. The participants will have a chance to present posters relevant to the theme.
